The US economy created 199,000 net new nonfarm payroll jobs in December, a number less than half of what most forecasters were predicting, according to the latest “Employment Situation” report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate fell to 3.9%, though the labor participation rate remained at 61.9%, 1.5 points below February 2020….
