Consumer Sentiment Was Steady At Depressed Levels In Mid-October

Consumer sentiment and expectations remained at very depressed levels in the mid-October preliminary reading from the University of Michigan’s Surveys of Consumers, released Oct. 10. The Consumer Sentiment Index fell to 55.0 from 55.2 in the final September survey, while the Expectations Index ticked down to 51.2 mid-October from 51.7 at the end of September….
